Practical Plans / Troubleshooting:

One of the most important pollutants of fossil fuels are sulfur compounds. Since 1930, the hydrotreating process was introduced and utilized as the main process for removal of various sulfur compounds from oil refinery distillation products. Through this process, which has kept up with strict environmental legislations, naphtha and diesel with sulfur contents less than 0.1ppm and 10ppm are achievable, respectively.

In this plan, using different reputable scientific resources, and through technology transfer and cooperation with technology holders, the bottlenecks were recognized, and finally through the domestication of the know-how of the process, it is possible to present the basic design of industrial plants demanded by NIORDC.

 

Mega-Projects:

High sulfur in gasoline refinery creates wide problems. At the moment, HDS unit is utilized in Shazand and Tondguyan refineries. Hence, through the domestication of this technology, the license fee will be lower and more economic for domestic industries. Furthermore, the earned know-how can be used in order to revamp and optimize the present operating units.

 

Domestication:

The main goal of this plan is to domesticize the know-how of sulfur removal through hydrotreatment. In the first phase of this plan, the know-how of the process was achieved through joint venture with technology holders  and performing initial pilot tests. In the second and final phase, the
know-how of the process will be fully domesticized and optimized through construction of a complete and multipurpose pilot plant.

 

Saving:

Beside the attractiveness of domestication of hydrotreatment know-how for domestic petroleum industry by RIPI, and consequently reducing the license fee for such industries, a new interesting potential is established in international market regarding to the competitive quality and price presented by RIPI.

 

Commercialization:

RIPI has the know-how and license of naphtha and diesel hydro treatment, and Commercialization will be happen soon.

 

Economy:

Despite the high capital cost demanded for this process regarding to the high pressure and temperature required, the market demand for clean final products of hydrotreatment regarding to environmental legislations compensates for the issue and makes it highly economic.

 

Present Customer Opinion:

So far, RIPI has done the basic design of HDS process for Shahriar refinery of Tabriz, based on the achieved know-how, which the owner, and also KBC and Nargan companies as MC of the project, have proved and appreciated the produced project documents.
