The Research Institute of Petroleum Industry (RIPI) has achieved first place in the 3rd Green Eurasia International Climate Competition, with an innovative project in the field of microbial corrosion monitoring and management. The institute won the top award in the category of “Water Resources in New Climate Conditions”, standing out among 295 leading global projects.

According to RIPI’s Public Relations Office, the winning project, titled “Innovative Strategies for Controlling Microbial Corrosion through Chemical Resource Management,” adopts a scientific and technological approach to address one of the key industrial challenges related to water resources. The project successfully drew the attention of both scientific and industrial judges of the competition.

Following this achievement, the Eurasian Economic Commission, in an official letter announcing the final results, described RIPI’s effective participation as a symbol of the Islamic Republic of Iran’s strategic commitment to tackling climate change, developing low-carbon technologies, and promoting sustainable resource management solutions.

The closing ceremony of this international competition was held in 2025 at the Minsk International Exhibition Center in the Republic of Belarus, attended by the heads of the five member states of the Eurasian Economic Union and scientific and technological representatives from 16 countries.

This prestigious international recognition highlights RIPI’s scientific and technological capabilities in providing innovative solutions to environmental and climate challenges, further strengthening Iran’s position in climate-focused research and the development of sustainable industrial technologies
