The Research Institute of Petroleum Industry (RIPI), with over 65 years of experience, was established in 1959 under the name “Development Research Department” of the National Iranian Oil Company, initially aimed at research and development in the application of petroleum materials. Following the glorious Islamic Revolution, due to structural changes, it was renamed the Center for Research and Scientific Services. Gradually, with the expansion of its activities, by 1989, with the approval of the Ministry of Culture and Higher Education’s Expansion Council and under the supervision of the Ministry of Oil, it was upgraded to the Research Institute of Petroleum Industry..
Since then, RIPI has focused on the comprehensive development of its activities, relying on the general policies of the Ministry of Oil and maximizing the use of domestic capabilities and technological knowledge. As a key pillar of the oil industry, it operates in various scientific and research fields to address the technological needs of the country’s oil industry.
RIPI’s primary strategy has always been to create added value through the production and commercialization of technology, with a focus on conducting research for the development and localization of new technologies based on knowledge-driven approaches. Its activities are aligned with achieving goals such as continuous interaction with the operational sectors of the industry, developing international collaborations, attracting domestic and foreign investments, capacity building, optimizing resource utilization, and advancing national technology.
