History
The Petroleum Industry Research Institute was established in 1959 with the aim of “research and investigation in the field of petroleum materials application” and with the development of applied activities in the petroleum industry, it was renamed “Petroleum Industry Research Institute” in 1989 with the approval of the Development Council of the Ministry of Culture and Higher Education . With the main mission of “developing technological research to solve the problems of the petroleum industry”, this organization has based its activities on achieving goals such as continuous communication and interaction with the operational body of the industry, developing international cooperation, attracting domestic and foreign capital, capacity building and optimal utilization of resources, and promoting national technology.
This research center, with 594 researchers, 115 PhDs, 170 senior undergraduate elites , and 24 PhD research students, and registering more than 275 domestic and international patents , has succeeded in transferring 79 bachelor’s degrees and technical knowledge to the industry, presenting 1,240 articles and 126 specialized book titles, and in addition to numerous scientific and research titles and honors in various fields, has achieved the “first rank of the country’s research center” by the Research Review and Evaluation Office of the Ministry of Science, Research, and Technology, the “first rank of executive agencies in the technical branch” for four consecutive years, and the first rank of the country’s patent registration by the Iranian Patent Center.
